LEONARD CORNISH ENTERS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

Leonard Cornish announced his candidacy for Wilkes-Barre Area School Director. Cornish wants to bring his lifetime of service in the community, to the benefit of the people, and to the students of Wilkes-Barre Area.

“My main concern is for the children, their education, their personal development, and their safety. I want to make sure that their curriculum is what's best for them. Peer pressure or administrative convenience should not determine their educational curriculum. Our children need somewhere to go. They need organized after school programs, mentoring, and job orientation. All children should have

programs that meet their needs, to prepare them for the future.”

Cornish has long demonstrated his commitment to service. As a U.S. Coast Guard Hospital Corpsman, he participated in many air-sea rescues. As a high school wrestling coach, wrestling official, and as a basketball coach, he has worked with young people to better their lives. As a community activist he has worked to better the lives of all people. As a Soil Scientist and a Bio-Solids Coordinator with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection he has protected our environment.

Cornish is a graduate of Coughlin High School, has a B.S. In Animal Science, and an M.S. In Soil Science from The Pennsylvania State University.

Cornish is the founder and president of Pocono Soil and Environmental Consulting Inc., Wilkes-Barre.

“I have a perspective that is different from other school directors, and have different life experiences that will be an asset to our educational system.”
